Holy Communion or simply the Lord's Supper is a staple of the Christian faith introduced by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself to be done in remembrance of Him.

Many Verses about Communion share that The Lord's Supper or Last Supper involves the bread, which symbolizes His body, and the wine which symbolizes The Lord's blood.

The New Testament references the Lord Jesus's statements on Holy Communion in one of the main Bible Verses About The Lord's Supper from First Corinthians, and I will share that with you a little later so keep reading.

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

What Are The Rules For Holy Communion Given By The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 11?

27Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup29For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.30That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgment32When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world. 33So then, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for each other. 34If anyone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you meet together it may not result in judgment. And when I come I will give further directions." (1 Corinthians 11:27-34)

Discussion on The Lord's Supper

In the Old Testament, we do see references to the Holy Communion ordinance through the Passover that took place, with the children of Israel, where they were instructed to eat a lamb which is basically a shadow of Christ being the Passover for us.

And of course, you know, the death angel passed over.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Lamb and the Lord's death represents the passing over of death from the life of the believer and the entrance of the eternal life that God wrought in Christ Jesus by raising Him again from the dead.

Read Bible Verses About The Holy Spirit - Powerful

This is why in the Last Supper verses we are told to eat the bread and drink the wine, because they represent The Lord Jesus' body and blood as the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.

Jesus' sacrifice has been outlined through the Last Supper's First Corinthians passage, and he encourages believers to do it celebrate often it, and as often as they do it to do it in remembrance of him.

Why is that?

Because it is in remembering what Jesus did, that we are able to be partakers of all that He promised.

Remember it was through the entrance of sin that death came to man but now through His life, and dying on the cross, sin has been taken away and by faith in Him, we can have eternal life.

Forgiveness has been wrought by God through the Lord Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Ghost!

And Holy Communion is a remembrance of the work that Jesus did in coming to die to take away the sin of the world. This is why we are to celebrate the Lord's Supper.

Thank God that by faith we can be beneficiaries of His glorious work! We hope that you've enjoyed our bible verses for communion above and chosen a great Scripture to use for you Church's worship service from among our short communion readings.
