How Old Is The Creator of The Universe? What is God's age? In layman's terms, How Big is God?

Many people start thinking in human terms like two months old..four years old, and some say, like a thousand years or nearly 6,000 years old. But these are nowhere close to the Truth on how old God is.

So how old is God Almighty?

It's an interesting question, for God existed before here was here and before time was created by HIM in Genesis 1. We cannot assign an age to GodHe doesn't have a beginning and an end. HE IS the beginning and the end! He is the eternal God.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. - Revelation 12:13

The Lord Jesus as a man did have age however, and we'll discuss this a little further down the page.

Quick Facts on How Old God is:

  1. God didn't start living when time was created by Him!
  2. He is eternal.
  3. He was not created.

  4. God has no age.

  5. He is the Creator and He lives forever and ever.

  6. The answer is God has no age because He is the beginning, He didn't have a beginning. And God is the end, He has no end.

  7. God is eternal, so He doesn't have an age.

Time and age are human constructs designed to measure and make sense of existence. Philosophically, Augustine of Hippo observed that while humans experience time sequentially, or linearly—past, present, and future—time itself is intangible, apprehended only through memory and expectation (Augustine, Confessions, Book XI). Scientifically, time is treated as a dimension in which events occur, yet Einstein’s theory of relativity demonstrates that time is relative, varying with velocity and gravity (Einstein, 1916). Age, however, is a measure of time’s passage specific to a being or object, marking biological, psychological, and social development (Baltes & Smith, 2003).This is why the sun is used to keep time. Humans are bound by this temporal framework, their lives framed by birth, growth, and inevitable death or rapture. This is not the case with God.

God transcends temporal limitations. In Classical theism, God is eternal—without beginning or end—and immutable (Aquinas, Summa Theologica, I, Q.10). Unlike human beings, God does not “age” or experience time sequentially or linearly. He exists in an eternal present, fully realized and independent of temporal development like us as humans. While human beings frame reality through age and time, God exists beyond these temporal limitations, highlighting a fundamental difference between the Creator and His creation.

The King Eternal - No Age

Another Question That Might Be Asked is:

How Old is Jesus in this year (Based on The New Testament)? How Old Would Jesus Be Today If He Was Still On Earth?

(He's alive forevermore!)

  • The Lord Jesus Christ is God but He came as a man (John 1), and thus had age in His earthly form.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man.
  • We know that the Lord Jesus started His earthly ministry as a man at about 30 years old.
  • Given that He was born around 6 BC, His ministry lasted around 3 years after being baptized by John the Baptist and that He died at around 28-33 AD, The Lord Jesus's age from His birth to His time in heaven is about 2029 to 2030 years of age.

God Created The Concept of Days, Months and Years in Genesis 1 so He is not bound by it.

  • In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
  • And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
  • And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
  • And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
  • And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Does God Have Age? Here are a few bible verses for your bible study.

Psalm 136 -  God Has No Age as The Creator of Heaven, Earth, and Time Itself!

  1. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
  2. O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.
  3. O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.
  4. To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.
  5. To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.
  6. To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.
  7. To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever:
  8. The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever:
  9. The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.

In short, we cannot assign an age to God. God has no age for He is eternal and The Creator.
