Matthew Chapter 16 KJV

King James Version, Holy Bible

The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.bible verse for today kjv

Matthew Chapter 16 (New Testament)

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.daily prophetic word online

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Matthew Chapter 16

Quote: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." - Matthew 16:24

Verse: "Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?'" - Matthew 16:24-26

Lesson: In Matthew Chapter 16, Jesus predicts his death and resurrection, and then instructs his disciples on what it means to be a true follower of him. He tells them that to be a disciple, they must be willing to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow him. This means that they must be willing to put aside their own desires and submit to God's will, even if it means suffering and sacrifice. Jesus warns that those who seek to save their own lives will ultimately lose them, but those who are willing to lose their lives for his sake will find true life.

Conclusion: As followers of Christ, we are called to follow Jesus' example of self-denial and sacrifice. We must be willing to put aside our own desires and submit to God's will, even if it means suffering and sacrifice. We must be willing to take up our cross daily and follow Jesus, knowing that true life is found in him alone.

Prayer Points:

l  Pray for the strength to deny yourself and follow Jesus.

l  Ask God to help you put aside your own desires and submit to His will.

l  Pray that God would help you take up your cross daily and follow Him, even if it means suffering and sacrifice.

l  Thank God for the gift of true life found in Jesus.
