Blessed Assurance was written in 1858 by Francis Jane Crosby, more affectionately known as Fanny. The music to this beloved hymn was composed by Phoebe Palmer Knapp.
My Personal Story
I used to play Blessed Assurance all the time.
Back when I used to play the organ at Church, this was one of my go-to songs to practice. While playing it I always had a time of victorious praise. There was just something about how the chords would roll of the organ.
People liked this song when I played it in worship and I remember that even at funerals that people would sing this song jubilantly as they laid their loved ones' bodies to rest, but this song is not only for funerals.
This is also a song of assurance of the Lord's faithfulness and goodness in this life and the life to come. It's a great song for praise and worship.
