Psalm 23 (Full Chapter and Verses)- Old Testament

Psalm 23 King James Version

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever

More On Psalm 23

As shown in Psalm 23, The Lord Jesus Christ is the good shepherd who cares for the sheep. A bible verse found in John 10:27 says that His sheep know His voice, He knows them and they follow him. What a blessing it is that the Lord knows us and that as the good shepherd He leads us to green pasture so we can eat, and by the still waters so we can drink.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, King David penned this psalm to really and truly speak to the life of believers, who Jesus says, are His sheep. We can rest assured that by His Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus Christ leads us, cares for us, and guides us.

This psalm is among the group of psalms that speak about the human condition and what God does in and through us when we cry out to Him. It isn't every day that you might get to read a psalm but rest assured that this one will speak to your human condition, your need for God, what God does for those who are faithful to Him, and much more.

Serving A Great God - The Breakthrough Chronicles of Psalm 23

I can't tell you how many times in my life, when all the chips were down that God came through for me and helped me. There was one time when I thought that I would be evicted from my apartment, and I found myself praying all night because everything was out of my control.

Have you ever felt like that? Like everything was out of your control? Well, I sure did. But, as many human ordeals go, God came through for me in high fashion.

A huge snowstorm came and stopped the eviction. I was later able to acquire the funds needed to pay rent and remain in my apartment.

Psalm 23, in the 4th verse of the psalm, reads, "Yea thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil for thou art with me."

And yes, He is with me!

Had it not been for God I would have been down and out but God came through for me and He will for you as you put your trust in Him.

Our prayer for you is that as you read the Psalm, the Lord will speak to your heart and give you the reassurance and hope that you need to keep on pressing through, not looking at how the wicked may seemingly prosper, until God brings you to the place He promised you.

It's so good when you can sit back and think about the goodness of the Lord in your life; how He's been faithful and mighty on your behalf. Sometimes we don't see all that God does for our lives, but sometimes He allows us to look back and see all the situations that He brought us from and all the situations that we didn't have to go through because He prevented them all together! God is good! He is a Faithful and He is True!

As you read this psalm, may the Lord remind you of His awesomeness, His compassion and the great comfort He gives to all who are His.
