Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever

More On This Psalm

This psalm is among the group of psalms that speak about the human condition and what God does in and through us when we cry out to Him. It isn't every day that you might get to read a psalm but rest assured that this one will speak to your human condition, your need for God, what God does for those who are faithful to Him, and much more.

Don't we serve a great God?

I can't tell you how many times in my life, when all the chips were down that God came through for me and helped me. There was one time when I thought that I would be evicted from my apartment, and I found myself praying all night because everything was out of my control.

Have you ever felt like that? Like everything was out of your control? Well, I sure did. But, as many human ordeals go, God came through for me in high fashion.

A huge snowstorm came and stopped the eviction. I was later able to acquire the funds needed to pay rent and remain in my apartment.

But, had it not been for God I would have been down and out but God came through for me and He will for you as you put your trust in Him.

Our prayer for you is that as you read these Chapters that the Lord will speak to your heart and give you the reassurance and hope that you need to keep on pressing through, not looking at how the wicked may seemingly prosper, until God brings you to the place He promised you.

It's so good when you can sit back and think about the goodness of the Lord in your life; how He's been faithful and mighty on your behalf. Sometimes we don't see all that God does for our lives, but sometimes He allows us to look back and see all the situations that He brought us from and all the situations that we didn't have to go through because He prevented them all together! God is good! He is a Faithful and He is True!

And He knows prophetically how things are going to turn out and He guides us in His will to the expected ends that He has for our lives in Jesus' Name! These psalms share the prophetic majesty, truth, love, and faithfulness of our God.

Sometimes we don't see that God has already gone before us and made a way in advance of our entry. He knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10).

And this is what you will see in the psalms. You will see God's power and His foreknowledge. You will see that He has everything taken care of and if you read the end of the book (Bible), HE wins and we win in Him.

As you read these psalms, may the Lord remind you of how awesome He is!

May we praise the Lord for His prophetic accuracy and for His powerful might to bring it to pass. And may we always remember that our lives are in His hand and no one can snatch us out of it (John 10: 28-30).
