Origins of The Hymn Lyrics To How Great Thou Art:

The How Great Thou Art words are based on a Swedish poem written by Carl Boeberg in 1885 and translated by Stuart Hine in 1949. Churches all over the world sing this Christian hymn based on a Swedish traditional melody. Made popular at the Billy Graham Crusade, it is a staple at funerals and praise events where the greatness of God is magnified.

This beloved Christian hymn has been sung in various languages in evangelical churches around the world. There is a Russian version also.

I remember, as a new disciple, I would spend hours upon hours in prayer and in praise and worship.

As a pianist, I would sit at the piano and play songs from the hymnbook and sing to the Lord prophetically. It was an awesome time. It was during those times that I felt the presence of God very strongly. I don't know if you've had a similar experience, but praising and worshipping the Lord invites the presence of God where you are.
