Who is Jesus- Is He Really The Saviour of The World

(Hint: YES!)

Updated on November 30, 2021

  • Deuteronomy 6:4 - “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
  • Deuteronomy 4:35 - To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him.
  • Isaiah 43:10 - “You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.
  • etc., etc., etc.

Those scriptures were in the Old Testament, referring to God. Now we see New Testament writers declaring Jesus to be God. Who is Jesus?

  • John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
  • John 1:18 - No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.
  • Titus 2:13 - waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ1
  • 2 Peter 1:1 - Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ1
  • Isaiah 9:6 - For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
  • Romans 9:5 - To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.
  • Hebrews 1:8 - But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
  • John 20:28-29 - Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
  • c.f. Matthew 1:21-23

You can read below Old Testament passages and then their direct references to Jesus as being God... the same God of the Old Testament. Who is Jesus?

  • Romans 10:9-13 - because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (c.f. Romans 9:33)Joel 2:32 - And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord [Jehovah] shall be saved.
  • Revelation 1:7 - Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
  • Zechariah 12:1,10 - The oracle of the word of the Lord concerning Israel: Thus declares the Lord [Jehovah]… “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.
  • Mark 1:1-3 - The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way, the voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight,’” (c.f. Matthew 3:3; Luke 3:4; John 1:23)
  • Isaiah 40:3 - A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord [Jehovah]; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
  • Matthew 11:10 - As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? … A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written, “‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’”

Who is Jesus? Bottom Line - Jesus is God! He is the Holy One and Image of The Invisible God.

Check out Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

1Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

And this same Jesus wants you to be saved- saved from your sins(missing the mark of God) and saved from eternal death and separation from Him.

For God so Loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

We are born in sin and shaped in iniquity. In this state the only thing that we can have is death for the wages of sin is death.

But listen, the gift of God is eternal life. And this is in His Son Jesus who was crucified (John 19) but rose again from the dead (Luke 24) and is alive forevermore (Revelation 1:18)!

You can't have God without Jesus.

1 John 2:22-25 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 24Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. 25..And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

How Do Receive Jesus and Become Born Again?

The term born again means that you have escaped death and have taken hold of life in Christ. You literally pass from death to life because you are born of Him and His righteousness and all that He is are now yours.

It's a divine exchange. He died and your sins and the sins of the whole world were upon Him. You receive Him and you get His life and His righteousness. All that is required is for you to believe on Him and confess Him.

Romans 10:13 "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

"that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9

So, would you do that?
We all are in need of this precious gift. And the Lord Jesus' death on the cross, and resurrection from the dead and His ascension has afforded us the opportunity to be reconciled to Almighty God whereas before our sins separated us from Him (Isaiah59:2).

Ready to be reunited with God?

Then confess Jesus as Lord of your life and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved! It's simple.

This is the beginning. He will do the work in you as you yield to Him in your life in studying the Word and doing as He leads you by His Spirit.

You MUST BE BORN AGAIN!
