Seven Signs You are A Seer
How do you know that you're a seer? Seers in the Bible include prophets like Elijah and Isaiah.
But what are 7 signs you're a seer? Once you understand that God gives spiritual gifts to people as he so chooses, you will realize that the Holy Spirit may choose to use you as a prophetic voice.
So while the term SEER doesn't show up in the New Testament those who are prophetic as a result of the Holy Spirit's anointing will show these common signs.
Firstly, you have vivid and prophetic dreams.
Do you have unexplained visions in the stillness of the night?
Do you have dreams that are clear, that actually come to pass, or do you have prophetic dreams that are full of symbolism, but you understand the symbolism and can interpret your dreams?
If this is the case, then you have been gifted by the Lord prophetically, scripture in Joel talks about the young men dreaming dreams, and all men having visions.
And so the prophetic gifting does involve the dream life, and especially if you have dreams that come to pass, you can be sure that the Lord is using you prophetically. Let's continue with our seven signs you're a seer article. Take our Free Spiritual Gifts Test
Secondly, you have strong, deep perceptions or gut feelings about people, places and things.
You're experiences with God are visual, emotional, deeply perceptive.
Have you ever walked into a room and felt as though that room is was the battleground of a contentious war between two people. There's nothing going on, but you can just feel the tension in the room.
You know that something happened there that was not good. Why is this? It's because your spiritual senses are attuned to the spiritual climate.
You see, what is inside of people comes out through their words and their actions and these words and actions have spiritual atmospheres to them.
And so when people do different things, their actions and their words remain because they create an atmosphere.
And if you walk into that atmosphere, as a prophet or just prophetic believer (all believers are prophetic) you can sense what happened, even without you being privy to the actual conversation or the actual fight.
Let's continue with more on 7 signs that you are a seer.
Thirdly, You See In The Spirit
1. 2 Kings 6:17 (KJV)
“And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”
This verse referencing Elisha, a seer in The Bible, reveals that spiritual sight is granted by the Lord. Elisha’s servant could not naturally see the angelic army until God opened his spiritual eyes. This is a classic Old Testament example of “seeing in the Spirit.”
2. Revelation 4:1 (KJV)
“After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.”
The Apostle John was caught up in the Spirit to see heavenly realities. This verse describes the supernatural invitation to see things beyond the natural world—visions of the throne room, end-time events, and divine mysteries.Take our Free Spiritual Gifts Test
Fourthly, You Hear In the Spirit
1. John 10:27 (KJV)
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”
The Lord Jesus told us that we as His sheep can hear His voice.
This hearing is not very seldom audible, but mostly spiritual: through the Holy Spirit speaking to the heart, through Scripture, or inward impressions. It is received through intimacy and spending time with The Lord, reenforced by doing as He says. How To Know You're Hearing God
2. Revelation 2:7 (KJV)
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches…”
Not everyone can hear The Spirit speak or discern His voice, only those to whom it is is given. For hearing comes by the Word of God, as He speaks specifically to you according to Romans 10:17
Let's go ahead to the next of seven signs that you are a seer.
Fifthly, You Smell and Taste in the Spirit
1. 2 Corinthians 2:14–15 (KJV)
“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:”
The Apostle Paul uses the language of savour or fragrance to describe how believers carry the knowledge and presence of Christ. This is more than metaphorical—some believers genuinely smell the fragrance of the Lord (like frankincense, myrrh, or roses) when He is near. This passage reveals that our lives are a spiritual aroma discernible in the Spirit realm.
2. Genesis 8:21 (KJV)
“And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake…”
After Noah offered a burnt sacrifice, the Bible says God smelled a sweet savour. This shows that scent has spiritual meaning. In moments of deep worship, sacrifice, or prayer, people may spiritually discern either a sweet aroma (God’s presence) or a foul odor (demonic activity or sin). Smelling in the Spirit can be a way God alerts you to what’s happening in the spiritual atmosphere.
Sixtly, You Feel in The Spirit
Acts 27:10 (KJV)
“And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.”
Paul wasn’t a sailor, but he had spiritual discernment. He perceived—not by natural knowledge, but by the Spirit—that the journey would result in trouble. This is a perfect biblical example of feeling or perceiving in the Spirit during a physical journey.
Let's go to the last of seven signs that you are a seer that we'll be looking at today.
How To Know You're Hearing God
And lastly, you have a knowing in your knower about what is taking place in someone's life and what will happen in the future.
Mark 2:8 (KJV)
“And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?”
The Bible calls these the word of wisdom, word of knowledge and the gift of prophecy, where the Holy Spirit will give you the knowledge of what is taking place in the person's life-that's the word of knowledge and what's to come to pass - that's the gift of prophecy.
He may also show you what that person is supposed to do -that's the gift of the word of wisdom.
And in fact, in the life of prophet or believers with the spiritual gift of prophecy, the word of knowledge, the word of wisdom and the gift of prophecy often work together.
And so very rarely would you have just the gift of prophecy functioning.
Most times you would have the word of knowledge and the Word of Wisdom functioning at the same time, because these gifts work together to bring about the purpose of the Lord in the ministration of those gifts to someone in the church.
