We serve an excellent, Heavenly Father, who sent the Lord Jesus Christ into the world to be the light of the world and through Him Scripture says, we are the light of the world.
There's something about light that we know and that is: light overcomes darkness. That's the truth that is found countless places throughout the Old Testament and the New Testament. In the Scriptures we see that light is given when the Word of God is given. Jesus is the Word of God and He is the light of the world (John 1).
You are The Light Of The World
We carry the Word of God in us by the Holy Spirit, and so we are the light of the world.
Matthew 5:14-16:
14You are the light of the world. A city on a hillb cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
These Bible verses about light that we provide here, should be used as tools and gauges into the life of the believer for God's word indeed declares that we have received that light. If you look at the book of Revelation, you will see that the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the light of the temple, and Jesus says that He will make us to be a pillar in the temple of His God (Revelation 3:12). And since there is no temple there except the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb and we are to be a pillar in the temple which is Light for the Lord God Almighty and The Lamb are the Light, this means that we will be light givers. Think about this!
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. (Revelation 21:22-23).
Are you a light giver right now. Are you the light of the world right now, in your life? Jesus says that you are! Are you letting your light shine, though?

Light is Eternal Life
The Bible says that this is eternal life that they may know God and know Jesus Christ whom He has sent (John 17:3). The Holy Spirit causes us to be filled with the light because the Holy Spirit fills us with the knowledge of God and Jesus Christ (John 14:26).
